Customize your instant messaging client with an official Sam Hornish, Jr. icon. Not sure how to customize this particular setting? No problem, we've outlined below the steps to accomplish this for most major IM clients.

Change your AIM 6.1 Buddy Icon

  1. Download and save one of the icons above to your PC.
  2. On the Buddy List® window, click on the "Edit" menu item, the select the "Settings" menu drop-down item.
  3. In the "Settings" preferences, select the "Expressions" tab.
  4. In the Expressions preferences, click on the "Browse" link. Select the icon you downloaded in step 1 with the "Select A Buddy Icon" tool.
  5. Click on the "Save" button.
Keep in mind that your buddy icon needs to be 48 x 48 pixels and no more than 7K size. All the icons on the Sam Hornish, Jr. site meet these requirements.

Modifying your avatar in Yahoo! Messenger

You can choose any photograph or picture to be displayed to other people during an IM conversation.

  1. First, download and save one of the icons above to your PC
  2. There are two ways to configure your picture:
    • Click the "Messenger" menu in Yahoo! Messenger and select "Preferences." Select the "Display Image" category and click the "Change Default" button.
    • Click the "Messenger" menu in Yahoo! Messenger and select "My Display Image."
  3. Select the "Share my picture" option and click the "Select a Picture" graphic.
  4. Select a picture or use one of your own by clicking the "Browse" button. With this button you can browse your hard drive for a picture. The picture must be one of the following graphic types: .bmp, .jpeg, .png, or .gif.
  5. Click the "OK" button at the bottom of the window.

How do I add a picture to Google Talk?

  1. Download and save one of the icons above to your PC.
  2. Sign in to Google Talk.
  3. Click the image next to your name, at the top of your Friends list.
  4. Click Browse... and look for the image you downloaded in step 1.
Your picture will appear immediately, and your friends will be able to see it next to your name and status message in their Friends lists. Google Talk will automatically resize the image in your file to 32x32.

Change your MSN Messenger display picture

You can change your display picture (An image associated with your display name that helps others recognize you. It appears in the main Messenger window, and in all conversation windows. ) to personalize your conversations.
  1. Download and save one of the icons above to your PC.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Change Display Picture. (If the menu bar doesn't appear at the top of the conversation window, the window frame may be hidden. Click in the upper left corner of the window, or press ALT to restore it.)
  3. Click Browse... and select the picture you downloaded in Step 1 and then click Open.
  4. Click OK.
